Energy Specialties steam system upgrade case study overview
Previously the plant relied on 25 instantaneous gas hot water units to make. plant hot water. They constantly broke down , needed maintenance and struggled to meet the plant demand

The Need

The Abattoir and Rendering Facility at Young requires a large amount of hot water ( about 45,000 lts/hr) , which is critical tot he process. The existing system was unreliable, restricted output, expensive to run and inefficient. Unreliable hot water, meant production stoppages at a cost of thousands of dollars a minute.

The Engineered Solution

To engage Energy Specialties to review the existing requirements and plan for future demands .Design, build supply , install and commission a new heat exchange hot water solution. Offer a turnkey solution that would give the business reliable hot water, produced efficiently.

The heat exchange unit had multiple functionality and safety features included-Pressure reduction so the steam supply temperature is always lower thanthe water pressure – eliminating high temperature flashing – which is asafety issue.Overheat lock out valvesRecirculating modulating valves back to the hot water tank – control so thatthe production water would be unaffected by flow /pressure fluctuations.

The Result

A bespoke , compact heat exchange unit capable of producing60,000 lts/hr , instantaneously heating water from 15C to 90C.The bespoke heat exchange unit , now has the capacity to fulfill the hot water demands under any production conditions. Hot water to plant now guaranteed. Efficient hot water production.
